It finds possible conversions based on algorithms, converts based on the signals your setup indicates. For example, it looks at what recently converted people are currently searching for and checks if it matches that of the converting users in your current audience. Factors outside of audiences such as landing pages, keywords, images and other manually selected signals are taken into account. It can be used in combination with Audience Expansions and layered with other targeting methods. How to Turn Off Google Ads Optimized Targeting?

Make yourself familiar with the lesser-known ad group settings section of Google Ads. Check out these simple seven steps to turn off your optimized targeting Google Ads:

  1. Change your optimized targeting settings by selecting the desired campaign you’d like to
  2. To adjust the optimized targeting select the ad group you’d like. (This has to be done for each ad group within a campaign.)
  3. Click Settings in the light grey left column once you’ve selected the ad group, 
  4. Select the Edit ad group targeting button which will take you to a separate screen.
  5. Scroll down below Settings to find the Optimized targeting section.
  6. Select the checkbox to turn on or off the optimized targeting option.
  7. Click Save!
